Gigantic Cute - The worlds largest plush toy installed into the Italian country side
The worlds largest plush toy installed into the Italian country side. Sick.
"The enormous pink bunny (200 feet long!) above was installed the other day on Colletto Fava, an Italian mountainside in Italy's Piedmont region. We're told that it's set to stay there for the next 20 years.
Created by the Viennese art group Gelatin, the worlds largest plush toy is "supposed to make you feel small, like Gulliver. You walk around it and you can't help but smile." Those that are brave enought to climb the 20 foot sides can relax on the bunny's belly." Source
Supposedly a lost Leonardo da Vinci/Giampietrino (a Leonardo pupil) painting was discovered. It's history has been verified for the last 100 years, though before that there seems to me no account of it. It is thought to have been painted in 1515. Source: Reuters
I have my doubts, the anatomy in the painting seems suspect - I marked the image with proportion lines. It seems like the body is tilted at the shoulders however the orientation of the chest and location of the belly seem to not be tilted, making the belly button location seem out of wack.
While marking up the image I've also noticed is the background seems to wrap seemlessly which is odd too.
After realizing the wrapping background I looked at a number of other Da Vinci paintings I could find online and noticed the Mona Lisa also wraps in a similar manner.
Trustees of the Cleveland Museum of Art voted unanimously Monday to accept bids with a guaranteed maximum price from contractors for building the first part of a $258 million expansion and renovation, and to break ground Oct. 1. yay
I just got some responses to what some pet food manufactuers are doing to help the animal victims of Katrina.
Purina (Nestle brands) just emailed me back as well. Nestle Purina has committed $15,000 to a team dispatched to Jackson, Mississippi, by the Humane Society of Missouri last week. The will also match gifts for all of its U.S. pet care associates to help victims of Hurricane Katrina - they will match dollar for dollar up to $100,000 all donations associates make to the American Red Cross or Noah's Wish, a not-for-profit animal welfare organization dedicated exclusively to rescuing and sheltering animals in disasters.
Castor & Pollux emailed me back and said that are working with the Oregon Humane Society to send supplies to those affected by Hurricane Katrina. They are sending animal rescue teams to the area and they're supplying them with collars, leashes, treats, and other items that may help their efforts. Also they are also working with several organizations to donate food. They also said "as a small company we cannot donate the millions of dollars that others can but we can at least provide supplies for the thousands of abandoned pets."
Iam's returned my email and said that they donated $200,000 in dog food and cat food and "will continue to monitor the situation, providing what is needed." Procter & Gamble (who owns Iam's) has donated $1 million in money and product to the American Red Cross and Second Harvest. In light of such a generous offer to the animal survivors of Katrina I hate to mention the cruelty that Iam's inflicts on its caged animals in its research facilities. But I would feel remised if I didn't.
With the recent disaster flooding from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans there are hundreds, if not thousands, of animals left behind.
Please help save them too, along with their owners. Please donate.

Donate money Donate pet food and supplies Adopt a homeless pet Provide a foster home for a temporarily displaced pet
Please, call your member of Congress immediately. Leave messages in Washington and at their home offices and get everyone you know to call too. Urge the government to stop forced evacuations without pets. Helpinganimals.com for more information on how to contact your local representative.
Ask pet food manufacturers and pet supply retailers to donate pet food and supplies as well. Just google them and email them. (I have emailed Purina, Petco, Petsmart, Iams, Castor & Pollux and a few other small manufacturers)
